Intercultural Exchange

Berlinale supports the dialogue between cultures

Intercultural exchange is one of the main topics of the Berlinale and present in all festival sections and events. Each year, international film teams and stars are attending Berlinale as well as a large number of international journalists. Intercultural networking and a dialogue between media representatives and artist from all around the world is therefore an important aspect at the festival. Also, the Berlinale program includes a lot of films that wouldn't make it into German cinemas. These films present the audience other cultural standards, a different sense of humor and diverse ways of perception.

Furthermore, Berlinale Talents focuses on the networking between young international filmmakers and, therefore, enables artists to create new intercultural projects.

Together with the Federal Foundation for Culture and in cooperation with the Goethe Institut, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Deutsche Welle / DW Academy, the Foreign Ministry and German producers, the World Cinema Fund works to develop and support cinema in regions with a weak film infrastructure, while fostering cultural diversity in German cinemas.
